The beer is an American style pale ale brewed with Pale and Munich malts to provide a smooth malty backbone to balance out the ample hops we threw at it. Hopco wanted to give some lesser k0wn hop varieties some exposure so the following blend of hops were chosen: NZ Cascade, Motueka and Pacifica which together combine to give the beer a rich key lime pie / lemon curd cheesecake aroma and a light resi0us character on the palate all backed up by a satisfying whack of bitterness.
  • Pirate Life IPA

    Rating: 92

Sitting nicely between our Pale Ale and IIPA at 6.8% ABV the IPA has a gentle orange hue and a round, full bodied malt character care of Pale Malt, Munich and Crystal. With our Pale Ale and IIPA having withdrawn most of our funds from the dank bank we thought it was time to make a beer that brought something a little different to the table. Chock full of Centennial, Riwaka and Simcoe our IPA is bright, fruity and full of liquid fun.

It glows in resplendent gold while the aroma is subtle with soft malts and the taste is rounded with a sweet and mellifluous character: butter biscuit malts and the sort of earthy hop character and broad but gentle bitterness.
